Harindra Dave (1930-1995) was a Gujarati writer of the post-independence period. He was a journalist by profession. He received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1978 for his poems. Title of this poem 'Madhav kyay nathi' means Krishna is nowhere. My one of the favourite poem on Krishna which is also from my school textbook.
ફૂલ કહે ભમરાને, ભમરો વાત વહે ગુંજનમાં :
માધવ કયાંય નથી મધુવનમાં.
કાલિન્દીના જલ પર ઝૂકી
પૂછે કદંબડાળી:
યાદ તેની બેસી અહીં વેણુ
વાતા’તા વનમાળી ?
લહર વમળને કહે, વમળ એ વાત સ્મરે સ્પંદનમાં :
માધવ કયાંય નથી મધુવનમાં…
શિર પર ગોરસમટુકી,
મારી વાટ ન કેમે ખૂટી,
અબ લગ કંકર એક ન લાગ્યો
ગયાં ભાગ્ય મુજ ફૂટી;
કાજળ કહે આંખોને, આંખો વાત વહે અંસુઅનમાં :
માધવ કયાંય નથી મધુવનમાં.
